Spring 2024 – Product – Update’s – Webinars – Product news

With the day to day priorities consuming our time, as it flies by, we already approach the end of Q1/2024. Time to review Q1 and look ahead of what Q2 will bring.

As per tradition, during the Photonics West show in San Francisco, the newest developments have been introduced to the market. Ground breaking developments that are often only limited by the imagination of its users. That is, if the users are aware of its existence.

To spread this awareness your TLS- team has been present at the NWO physics in Veldhoven and will be out on the road visiting you.

Interested in a visit? Just reply to this mail and one of us will reach out to you, to set things up.
For now, let’s take a short break, sit back, relax and read what is new in the world of photonics.

EKSMAPulse Picking Systems

Ultrafast pulse picking systems are tailored for operation with femtosecond lasers. Our pulse picking systems can be synchronized with lasers generating pulse train with max 100 MHz repetition rate, for single pulse picking task. When the system is synchronized with the laser operation then pulse picker can select single pulses (or work at programmable burst modes) at up to 2 MHz rate.

Eksma Puls PickerDigital synchronization and delay pulse generator pMaster 4.2 synchronizes pulse picker with laser operation and triggers it to launch λ/4 or λ/2 operation of Pockels cell. Laser pulses with switched polarization are redirected from the train using high laser induced damage threshold thin film laser polarizers, which can also be provided by EKSMA Optics.

Ultrafast Pulse Picker UP2

Femtosecond pulses can be picked from the train at up to 1 MHz rate using pulse picker UP2 and digital synchronization and delay pulse generator – pMaster 4.2.

Pulse Picker MP1

MP1 is able to select pulses at up to 1 MHz rate. In setup with pMaster 4.2 timing generator, MP1 can be synchronized with a laser generating pulse train with max 60 MHz repetition rate for single pulse picking.

Ultrafast Pulse Picker UP1   << S A L E  >>

Take advantage of the Stock clearance sale! Eksam Optics earlier technology Pulse Picker UP1 + digital synchronization and delay pulse generator pMaster 4.0H kit is on sale.

New laser energy detector with 195 mm aperture for measuring extra-large beams.

The new QE195LP-S-MB features an effective aperture of 195 mm. This new model of pyroelectric laser energy detector of the QE series is now the largest in the series and can measure every pulse at up to 200 Hz and up to 700 J. With a noise level as low as 0.1 mJ, this detector can be useful in a wide range of experiments.

QE195LP-S-MBGentec-EO also recently added a 145 mm aperture model to the series that can measure up to 385 J.

These new measurement instruments were designed to meet the needs of laser scientists and engineers in industries such as high-energy laser science, advanced materials research and processing, energy production, and fusion research.

With these new solutions, Gentec Electro-Optics reaffirms its commitment to supporting the always-evolving laser industry.

Custom-built solution

The QE195LP-S-MB is a custom-built laser energy detector. Therefore, it can be customized to meet any specific requirements customers have.

Precise, traceable calibration

All detectors in the QE series come with a NIST-traceable calibration for their entire calibrated spectral range. This ensures that the measurements taken by the instruments are reliable and accurate, allowing customers to make valid comparisons with measurements taken by other instruments inside and outside their organization over time.

LaserVisionProtect Your Self and Colleagues: Laser welding faceshield

The FS1 is based on the uvex industrial safety visor and protects not only the eyes but also the entire face from hazards caused by laser radiation. With the FS1 laser safety visor, we offer a lightweight and safe solution that is particularly suitable for working with hand-held welding lasers. The entire visor is certified to EN207 and protects against accidental exposure to laser radiation, but like all laser safety filters it does not protect against permanent, direct exposure. The large visor ensures an unobstructed field of vision and comfortable working.

Depending on the materials to be welded and the associated characteristic plasma brightness, you can choose between three filter variants

FS1 Laser Welding Shield

  • protection of the entire facial area
  • laser filters certified according to EN207
  • carrier certified to EN207
  • welding filters certified to EN169 (depending on model)
  • basic requirements and mechanical protection according to EN166
  • anti-fog coating on the inside/scratch-resistant coating on the outside
  • ergonomically optimized, semi-automatic, spring-loaded visor mechanism

Sios Messtechnik GmbHCalibration laser interferometer

Laser interferometer for high-precision simultaneous measurement and calibration of length, pitch angle, yaw angle, roll angle and straightness on positioning axes.

The highly accurate dynamic acquisition of guiding characteristics of machine axes as well as the subsequent standard-compliant calibration are a very labor- and time-intensive process, which ultimately leads to a high positioning accuracy.

The SP 15000 C6 Ng calibration laser interferometer was specially developed to meet the requirements of manufacturers of coordinate measuring machines and high-precision machine tools. It enables synchronous, continuous and, in conjunction with an optional roll angle sensor, 6 DoF measurements. The measured quantities length, pitch angle, yaw angle and straightness in x- and y-alignment are acquired highly accurately by laser interferometry, using the same highly stable laser frequency in all three length measurement channels.
Complete machine acceptance or volumetric compensation can be implemented using the optional software.

Due to the compact design of the straightness optics, the straightness mirror is directly attached to the sensor head. Thus, only two components have to be assembled and aligned to each other. Even in cramped or difficult-to-access spaces, the measurement system can be quickly installed and reliably adjusted.

The fiber optic coupling of the sensor head and the integrated beam direction detection support the easy handling and adjustment. The calibration interferometer does not require an additional stand. It can be placed directly on the stable machine bed. This minimizes the number of optical components to be aligned.

  • flexible length measuring system of highest accuracy
  • highly accurate length measurements over long distances
  • synchronous, continuous measurements of length, pitch and yaw angles and straightness
  • up to 6 DoF measurements are possible in conjunction with the optional roll angle measurement sensors
  • easy handling and adjustment due to integrated beam direction detection
  • large tilt invariance of the measuring reflector
  • beam distance: 50 mm
  • horizontal and vertical straightness component measurable by swiveling optics
  • extensive trigger options
  • open interfaces for OEM software under Windows and Linux
  • calibration software InfasMTCAL according to the currently DIN and ISO standards

JENOPTIKIntroducing the novel single-bar diode laser package LS

Jenoptik is introducing its novel open heat sink diode laser package “LS” for optical pumping of next-generation solid-state-lasers, which offers significantly increased optical output power levels compared to the industry-standard CS.

While only slightly deviating from the CS form factor, the LS features improved conductive cooling of the laser bar by virtue of a double-side cooled open heat sink design. As a result, the LS offers superior performance compared to the CS with cw-output power levels exceeding 150 W @ 9xx nm thus enabling advanced pump- or direct-diode-laser (DDL) applications.

Featuring an almost identical form factor as the CS-package, Jenoptik’s LS package offers upgrade capability of already existing (pump) assemblies based on the CS with the benefit of boosting optical (pump) power to unprecedented levels.
