Our DSTS have been successfully used in pipeline leakage detection applications

We are pleased to announce that our distributed strain and temperature sensor (DSTS) products have been successfully used in pipeline leakage detection applications.

OZ Optics Ltd. is pleased to announce that its distributed strain and temperature sensor (DSTS) products have been successfully used in pipeline leakage detection applications. Blind tests of several sensing technologies were performed in Houston, TX, USA, by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and funded by major oil companies through a joint industry program. The fiber-optic based DSTS from OZ Optics Ltd. was able to detect all leakage incidents and accurately locate them. An impressive
leakage detection response time was also recorded.

More about this achievement can be found in the white paper here.

OZ Optics Ltd. is also pleased to announce that its DSTS products have great potential in oil refinery applications such as proactive reactors temperature monitoring. Without the proper sensing technology, the refinery operators might prematurely shut down operations to perform untimely maintenance, or not notice a severe problem that requires immediate attention, resulting in a catastrophic accident. In both cases, the financial losses to the operator are enormous. OZ Optics DSTS products use optical fibers as a distributed sensing element, which can withstand very high temperatures. Due to the low fiber loss, the sensing range can reach many kilometers, easily allowing the fiber to wrap around the entire reactor structure.

More about this oil refinery application can be found in the white paper White Paper Link
